Explain It!

Explain the word without saying it. One phone, passed around.

Explain It! is a free word guessing party game for friends and family. Split into two to six teams, pass a single phone around, and race the clock to explain as many words as you can without saying them.

On each turn, one player describes the word on screen with synonyms, stories and gestures while their team shouts out guesses. Swipe up when they get it, swipe down to skip, and when time runs out a review screen lets you fix any mis-taps before the points count.

The last word of a turn can be thrown open so any team can steal it. Add your own words, like friends' names and inside jokes, enjoy a deck that never repeats a word, and play anywhere, even offline, in 50 languages.

How to play

Split into teams. On each turn, one player takes the phone and explains as many words as possible to their team before time runs out.

Not allowed: saying the word, part of it or a word from the same root, translating it into another language, or pointing at something in the room.

Allowed: synonyms, opposites, "rhymes with", stories and hand gestures.

Guessed it? Tap Got it! or swipe up. Stuck? Tap Skip or swipe down. When the clock runs out you get a last word, then a summary screen where you can fix any mis-taps.

The first team to pass the goal wins, once every team has had the same number of turns.
